How to play
Six games about album covers. Every one has a daily, the same for everyone, and a hint for when you’re stuck.
Sleevedle
One album cover a day, the same for everyone. Name it in five tries.
- The cover starts blurred and sharpens after every miss.
- After three misses you’re told the artist; after four, the year it came out.
- Hint tells you the artist, then the year, sooner. Each costs a try.
- Give up shows the answer. The day counts as played, not won.
- Your streak counts days won in a row. A new cover comes at your midnight.
Guess the albums
Name each blurred cover, up to ten a game, from the covers you pick: a grid of yours, My Albums, everyone’s favorites or a genre.
- Five tries a cover. It sharpens after every miss.
- Five points on the first try, then one fewer for each try used. A miss is no points.
- After three misses you’re told the artist. Name the artist tells you sooner, for a try.
- Skip moves on and scores the cover as missed.
- Send a friend a game of your grid with Copy game link in the editor’s Share step.
Sleeve Match
The covers lie face down, two of each. Find every pair in as few moves as you can.
- Flip two sleeves for a move. A pair stays face up; two that don’t match turn back.
- Pick a grid from 4 × 3 up to 12 × 12. The bigger grids borrow covers from the genres when yours run out.
- Peek shows every face-down sleeve for a moment, for three extra moves. You get three a game.
- A perfect game takes one move per pair. Your best is kept for each size.
Which came first?
Two covers: tap the one released first. Keep going until you get one wrong.
- A right answer shows both years, then the next pair comes by itself.
- The two albums are always from different years, and no pair comes up twice in a run.
- Show a decade tells you when the left-hand album came out, to the decade. Three a run.
- Your score is the run: how many you got right in a row. Your longest is kept.
Close-up
A tight crop of one cover: name the album. Ten rounds a game.
- Each cover is worth five points.
- Zoom out pulls back a step to show more of the cover, for a point. A wrong guess also costs a point.
- After three points spent you’re told the artist. With none left, the cover is shown whole.
- Skip moves on and scores the cover as missed.
Sleeveless
Name the song from a split second of it. Five songs a game.
- You start with a tenth of a second. Each miss or skip lets you hear more: half a second, then 2, 4, 8 and 15.
- The song’s title or its album’s title both count.
- Six points on the first try, one fewer for each after. After four tries you’re told the artist.
- Name the artist tells you sooner, for a try, and lets you hear more.
Dailies and scores
- Typing an answer: capitals, accents, punctuation, a leading “the” and notes like “(Deluxe Edition)” don’t matter, and small typos are forgiven.
- Dailies: every game has one each day, the same covers in the same order for everyone, with a new one at your midnight. Your first finished go counts; replays are practice.
- Archive: play any day back to No. 1 from the Archive on the Games page. Catch-up days count as played, never toward a streak.
- How you compare: when you finish a daily, its score is added to that day’s count, with nothing that names you, so you can see how you did against everyone.
- Challenges: finish any game you play with your own covers and press Challenge a friend. Their link deals the same covers in the same order, and shows the score to beat. When they’re done, they can challenge you back.
- Live vs: on each game card, press Vs and share the invite link. You and a friend get the same covers at the same time; scores update live, and whoever does better wins.
- Stats, badges and sync: under Your stats on the Games page. Results stay in your browser; sign in to keep them, your grids and your albums on all your devices.
